The white part was built somewhere (not here) and shipped on trucks to the site and lifted into place by big cranes. T hey went up fairly quick.
Unfortunately, the people who built the boxes didn’
t pay attention to the drawings provided by the architect. They used some regular type of plywood for the exterior sheathing but it required a fire resistant sheathing due to its proximity to the property
lines. uh-
oh.

Hmm, seems like inspecting at least the first box that came in to make sure it is up to spec would have been a good idea.

That’s a giant mistake. I can’t imagine how that would happen. I work for a big GC and this would have been identified at the first scope meeting. The Estimator in charge of the skin would not miss this. The sub doing the skin would not miss this, especially if it was prefab. Where is this and who is the GC?

Crazy. As a precon manager I got defensive! I’m trying to think of a scenario where you could screw this up so badly. There are months upon months of meeting that would lead up to this point in a project of that size.

i guess this is the first time they manufacturer has even had to use anything but the typical sheathing. i’m with you, I cant imagine how many people missed it.

I think you need to work with a marketing department that will green light anything.
